Destination weddings in Spain

Wedding photographer
Mallorca & the Balearics

Editorial fine art for the couples who chose Mallorca because it looks the way it does.

Half of the weddings in Mallorca every summer are international. British, German, Swiss, French and Nordic couples fly in with a planner, a florist, and often a hair and makeup team from home. The photographer, though, has to be local. It is one of the few vendors who cannot be flown in without paying a real premium, and it is the vendor whose work you live with forever.

Sandra Mañas is our photographer for Mallorca. Her portfolio is the one couples show us when they say, we want something like this. It usually is.

Spanish & English

Sandra shoots editorial fine art, which in her hands means light, texture, restraint. Her work has been highlighted by ISPWP, the international wedding photojournalism association, and her images have appeared in publications like Tatler and Vogue, according to her own website. That is unusual for a Balearic photographer.

She covers the whole island. Fincas in the Tramuntana, the coastal calas, the possessions in the Pla de Mallorca. She has shot weddings in Menorca and Ibiza too. She speaks Spanish and English at a level that lets her run the day directly with international couples, which matters more than it should have to be said.

Fees for Mallorca destination weddings start at a level that reflects the market. Sandra will send you her actual price sheet if you ask. No packages hidden until you enquire.

What to know

Getting married in Mallorca,
the parts nobody puts on the website

The season

Peak season runs May to early October. July and August are hottest and busiest. Photographers on the island book fifteen to eighteen months out for June and September. If your date is 2027, start now. If your date is next month, tell us and we will be honest about who is left.

The venues that work

The northern fincas in the Serra de Tramuntana have the best light in the afternoon. The southern possessions have flatter terrain and more space for large marquees. Cala Bassa and the east coast calas are gorgeous for smaller intimate weddings but access can be tricky for older guests. Sandra has photographed in most of them and will tell you what to expect from each.

The paperwork for foreign couples

Legal weddings in Spain for foreign residents require paperwork that takes months. Most international couples marry legally at home and do a symbolic ceremony in Mallorca. Ask your planner. If you do not have a planner, ask us and we will introduce you to someone who does this all year.

Flying kit vs local kit

Flying a photographer from London or Berlin sounds cheaper on paper. In practice, once you add flights, two nights of accommodation and the equipment shipping, you are usually not saving much. And you lose the local knowledge, which matters when the ceremony runs late and someone has to figure out where the flash rebounds off a limestone finca wall.
